WALK & TALK:  A LADIES GROUP

On May 2nd (2022), our new Walk & Talk small group debuted and we had a blast!  The group has been going strong for two weeks now and we thought this would be a great time to "spotlight" the mission vision that the groups leader, Deb Clay, had as she created this women's group.

In the past decade, health media has exploded with empirical research pointing to walking and its huge benefits, both physical and mental.  There are even studies pointing to health benefits when walking in groups!  What many of these studies fail to recognize are the spiritual benefits of walking...with others!  In fact, the Bible is full of examples of the benefits of encouraging one another together.  Deb Clay had this in mind when she created this group.

"I believe that a lot of what women are dealing with daily, can be helped by simply talking with someone who is there just to listen.  Sometimes I walk by myself and pray, or while listening to the bible on an audio app. But, walking with another lady, opens up dialogue that is both refreshing and beneficial."

Deb say that connecting with another's life while walking just comes naturally to women.  Walking clears our minds, refreshes the soul, improves our physical well-being, and strengthens relationships.  It seems that being outside can create an openness between people.  There is no agenda, no real goal, just doing it!  Walk and talk.  Anyone can do it.

"This is a really great way to engage your neighbors and friends in an activity where you can share yourself with another lady.  No one is paired up. It will happen naturally.  There is something about walking and talking that also opens up a chance to share what God has done and is doing in your life.  Let's encourage one another, listen to each other, and just carve out 30 minutes to do something that can ease the stress of the day and just plain help you feel better!"

Deb said it all!  God created us to crave community because he knows our bodies need it!

Come join us Mondays at WCC at 7:00 pm.  We leave promptly from the parking lot.  Check out the walking route here.  The walk is about 30-35 minutes and equals about 4000 steps!

Walk with us!  (And Jesus!)  See you there!

But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. HEBREWS 3:13
